Civil Rights leaders are now calling for greater punishment or the end of the John and Ken show on KFI AM 640 after insensitive “crack ho” remarks about the late Whitney Houston, were delivered on their program. The Los Angeles based station acted quickly and temporarily suspended the duo.
Drive-time listeners heard the host say: “At some point you’re just sick of it all, and so is everybody else in the industry; all her friends and hangers on; everybody who knew had to deal with her. It’s like ah Jesus… here comes the crack ho again, what’s she gonna do ah look at that she’s doin handstands next to the pool. Very good crack ho… after while everybody’s exhausted. And then you find out she’s dead. It’s like really; took this long.”
The story and audio clip immediately went viral after it broke on the nationally syndicated radio program, “Real Deal Talk”, hosted by Andre Michael Eggelletion.
John Kobylt issued a statement saying, "We made a mistake, and we accept the stations decision. We used language that was inappropriate, and we sincerely apologize to our listeners and to the family of Ms. Houston." John and Ken will return to the air Monday, February 27.
Unhappy with the punishment, yesterday, Los Angeles Urban Policy Roundtable President Earl Ofari Hutchinson and other civil rights leaders called the suspension of John and Ken an “insulting hand slap non-punishment.”
Hutchinson continues: “Given the long history of John and Ken’s racist, ethnic and gender incendiary attacks, their short suspension for their gross insensitive slur of Houston and the pain caused by it to her legions of friends, associates and family” says Hutchinson, “is beyond ludicrous. The station’s weak non-punishment of them sends the subtle message that radio hosts can abuse and slander anyone with little fear of punishment.”
According to Hutchinson, endorsers include: Earl Ofari Hutchinson, President Los Angeles Urban Policy Roundtable; Dwayne Wyatt, L.A Black Employees for Fairness; Lita Herron, President Youth Advocacy Coalition; Eddie Jones, President Los Angeles Civil Rights Assn.; Reverend KW Tuloss National Action Network (Al Sharpton) West Coast Representative; Pedro Baez, Founder Voice of the People; Willis Edwards, NAACP National Board Member.
Calling for the firing of John and Ken is Alex Nogales, president and CEO of NHMC. Nogales said in a statement that a temporary suspension is not enough. “How many times do John and Ken get to spew their hate, apologize and then do it again after taking off a long weekend?” Mr. Nogales added: “KFI must permanently remove John and Ken from the air. Los Angeles deserves better.”

They better apologize because the two guys were deliberately acted out of ignorance and were being despicable for disrespecting the late Whitney Houston. I know she did a lot of crazy stuff getting high when she was living but still, the woman had passed away and then they called her a "crack hoe." How stupid and unprofessional can they be? I'm sorry but that was uncalled for.
